It really has been quite a long time. A month maybe? When was my last post dated? *checks* Alright. Less than a month ago, but it feels like I haven't been in here for ages! I see cobwebs hanging around...
University life now has taken a toll on me. It's the end of the semester and I am rushing so many projects on hand! Design takes up the MOST, and by most, I mean SERIOUSLY, the most time consuming work I have ever done! You can sit glued to that chair and table for an hour and come up with maybe, just a line on a piece of paper. People say that just do it. Oh you just take your pencil and draw. If not, do this, do that. Goodness, talking is easy, you people can talk all you want, but try to step into our shoes and see how you can start when you know what kind of critics you will get from your lecturers.
Ideas don't come easy.
Inspiration needs to hit you like a bullet.
Your brain has to be working all the time.
(Which means no design block)

I tell you, it's never easy, I mean, nobody said it was easy. It was Architorture in the beginning, just that it gets worse every semester. God knows what will we have install for us in the last semester. The challenges we face during our time in studio for design classes are more like a habit that we have developed. 5 hours is not enough.
What if, you are indecisive? It totally kills!
What if, you are totally blanked out for a week without any inspiration or idea? It kills!
What if, you can't get a concept or an idea for that project? It kills!

Because everyday you need to produce something to show. People ask you to take a chill pill, relax, do something else for awhile. Oh yes, we do do something else which is our "taking a break" time. We go crazy and do things totally unrelated to architecture. Then once it's over, we go back staring at our papers, or whatever we have in our hands.
Oh well. Enough ranting. I'm tired. Best to head off to bed. I'll end it with a little poem my friend wrote. :)

"every class seems to be a huge test,
a project to us is just like an annoying pest.
you might think architecture students are the best,
staying in the studio like it's our nest.
actually we wish to head out far west,
to take a really long rest." - Bryan Yeoh

Waiting for something that will never happen kills.
